Sign up for Mates Rates in a few quick steps. Once you have done this, we'll send you an email with your Mates Rates membership. Create your online account, and you can start accessing your discounts online straight away!

On your first visit to the International Antarctic Centre or Willowbank Wildlife Reserve, grab your Mates Rates card from our team.

Once you have signed up to Mates Rates and created your online account, you will be able to start using your membership online.

Just log in to your account via the "login" button in the top right corner of the Willowbank Website or the International Antarctic Website. From here, you can manage your membership online and will automatically receive your Mates Rates discounts. As long as you are logged in, you won't need a promo code.

For Waka on Avon, simply email them your booking request, and as long as you include your membership number, you will receive your Mates Rates discounts. You may be required to show ID at the location.

Mates Rates is available to Canterbury residents; those who live within:

• Christchurch City

• Banks Peninsula

• Waimakariri

• Selwyn

• Ashburton

• Timaru

• Mackenzie

• Waimate

• Waikari

• Hurunui

• Kaikoura

Your Mates Rate membership is valid for you and up to 4 paying guests. Preschoolers (0-4 years) are free.

Whether you’re bringing the whānau or rounding up your mates, it’s all about getting out and making the most of what’s in your own backyard. 

Yes, you will need your card to purchase over the counter at the attractions and may need to show proof of residency.

Your membership will be valid for 5 years from your registration date.

• The Mates Rates membership and card are non-transferable, and the named member must be present with the party when using the card. Members and cardholders must be 16+.

• Once registered, Mates Rates members can purchase discounted general admission tickets online for Willowbank Wildlife Reserve and the International Antarctic Centre. Any discounts will be automatically applied at checkout when you are logged in.

• Once registered, Mates Rates members can purchase discounted general admission tickets over the counter at Willowbank Wildlife Reserve, International Antarctic Centre and Waka on Avon. You will be required to present your Mates Rates card.

• Mates Rates members must be Canterbury and New Zealand Residents. Proof of residency may be required.

• The Mates Rates membership is valid for 1 named adult (membership/ card holder), and up to 4 paying guests. Pre-schoolers (0-4 years) are free.

• To receive your Mates Rates card, you will need to visit either Willowbank Wildlife Reserve or the International Antarctic Centre. 

• You will be required to present your Mates Rates card in order to receive any other future discounts offered across Wildlife Reserve, International Antarctic Centre and Waka on Avon.

• You will be automatically subscribed to our Mates Rates Membership database and will receive Special Exclusive Offers for Willowbank Wildlife Reserve, International Antarctic Centre and Waka on Avon from time to time. You can unsubscribe at any time, but you must remain a Mates Rates member to be eligible for exclusive discounts, rewards and offers.
