GENERAL TERMS AND CONDITIONS

1 The visitor attraction known as the International Antarctic Attraction is situated at 38 Orchard Road, Christchurch Airport.

2 All agreements and contracts shall be subject solely to New Zealand law and the exclusive jurisdiction of the New Zealand courts. In the event of a cancellation or amendment to your booking, notification period is in NZ time (NZST).

3 The International Antarctic Centre will endeavour to ensure that as many exhibits as possible are on display. We may, however, without prior notice and without refund or compensation, alter ticket prices at any time, change the operating hours of the Attraction, amend exhibit timetables, close the Attraction or any part of it temporarily, restrict the number of persons having access to the Attraction, and/or close any part of the Attraction or interactive programme for operational reasons.

4 All attraction visitors accept responsibility for all personal items taken on any International Antarctic Centre experience and are personally liable for these items at all times. The International Antarctic Centre is not responsible for the loss/damage to personal items taken on International Antarctic Centre experiences at any time, unless stated by an International Antarctic Centre Guide.

5 From time to time the International Antarctic Centre or other authorised parties carry out photography and/or video recording in the Attraction, which may feature visitors. By accepting these Regulations, you agree that the International Antarctic Centre or any authorised party may use such images in perpetuity in any promotional, advertising or publicity material in any format whatsoever. You further agree that copyright in these materials rests with the International Antarctic Centre or such authorised party (as the case may be).

6 The International Antarctic Centre Attraction does not store any Credit Card or private Bank Account details. Our secure payments page is hosted and managed by Payment Express, a global leader in Ecommerce payments, one of the largest in the Asia Pacific Region. Payment Express uses the latest PxPay 2.0 payment solution designed to ensure all web transactions are done to the strictest security standards and is fully PCl DSS compliant.

 

TICKET PURCHASE TERMS AND CONDITIONS

All ticket holders to the Attraction are subject to the following Terms and Conditions and by acquiring one or more tickets to The Attraction (“Ticket” or “Tickets”) you confirm to the International Antarctic Centre that you accept these terms and conditions of use.

All transactions are conducted in New Zealand Dollars (NZD). Due to exchange rate fluctuations, at times there may be some variance in the amounts refunded compared to the amount initially charged. The International Antarctic Centre Ltd does not accept any liability for these variances or any subsequent credit card/bank charges relating to these transfers to customer’s accounts.

Ticket holders are referred to in these Terms and Conditions as “Visitors”

  1. Tickets

1.1 One Ticket purchased entitles one person entry to the Attraction on a single occasion.

1.2 All persons entering the Attraction must hold a valid Ticket or other proof of entry that must be retained at all times and submitted for inspection if required by any member of staff. Failure to produce a valid Ticket or other proof of entry on request may result in removal from the Attraction

1.3 Group Tickets for parties of 10 or more may be available at discounted rates (“Group Tickets”). Group payments must be made by 1 payer only.

1.4 Where Ticket prices vary according to age, the following provisions apply:

1.4.1 A person of 16 years or older is classed as an adult;

1.4.2 A person aged 5 to 15 years is classed as a child; and

1.4.3 For children aged 4 years and under, no admission fee will be charged

1.5 Concession Tickets apply to the following groups:

1.5.1 Students, upon production of a valid Student ID

1.5.2 Seniors upon presentation of ID to verify their age as over 60

1.6 For visitors who require a carer to assist them due to disability, carers are granted free of charge entry, limited to one free carer per disabled visitor who is purchasing a ticket. Standard ticket rates apply for disabled visitors.

Note: this condition may be changed without notification.

1.7 The price of Tickets may vary from time to time and the prices advertised are not guaranteed.

1.8 General Admission tickets are valid for use on any day within 12 months of purchase. Tickets past validity may be accepted at Duty Manager’s discretion. For cancellations see our Cancellations policy.

1.9 Once acquired, whether by purchase or on a complimentary basis Gift Vouchers are non-refundable, non-transferable and void if altered and Gift Vouchers that the International Antarctic Centre reasonably suspects have been transferred or altered will not be honoured. If lost, Gift Vouchers will not be replaced.

1.10 General Admission tickets will include entry to most, but not all, areas of the Attraction. Subject to availability and at the International Antarctic Centre’s discretion, Visitors may be able to purchase additional tickets to obtain access to all areas of the Attraction.

1.11 From time to time, the International Antarctic Attraction may issue Tickets under special promotions (“Promotional Tickets”) but Promotional Tickets will be available subject to availability and subject to any terms and conditions affecting the particular promotion.

  1. Pre-booked Tickets

2.1 Pre-booked Tickets purchased via the website should be produced by the Visitor on arrival for inspection and will be scanned to check validity.

2.2 Pre booked Tickets may not be used in conjunction with any voucher, promotion or special offer.

  1. Time Specific Tickets

3.1 Time Specific Tickets entitle the Visitor to access within the timeslot specified when booking (e.g. after 4pm) if applicable.

3.2 Visitors who miss the Allocated Entry Time are not guaranteed entry and will need to approach the ticket desk for assistance.

  1. Cancellations

In the event of a cancellation or amendment to your reservation, refunds will only be granted when the International Antarctic Centre receives notification at least 24 hours prior (NZ time) to date of visit.

If your entry ticket to the attraction is via one of our 3rd party partners you will need to check with them as their Cancellation policy takes precedence.

 

RETAIL PURCHASE TERMS AND CONDITIONS

The International Antarctic Centre operates a retail store.

The International Antarctic Centre retail store takes pride in the quality of its NZ Made product selection. All goods are covered by our personal guarantee so you can shop with us with confidence. If any merchandise is faulty, we will exchange or refund as per our Refund and Exchange policy.

All prices in the retail locations are in New Zealand Dollars. Transactions are conducted in New Zealand Dollars (NZD) or you may be offered the choice to pay in your own currency. Due to exchange rate fluctuations, at times there may be some variance in the amounts at time of payment reconciliation compared to the amount initially charged. The International Antarctic Centre Ltd does not accept any liability for these variances or any subsequent credit card/bank charges relating to these transfers to customer’s accounts.

 

Refund Policy

Any merchandise purchased and later to be found in a faulty condition may be refunded or exchanged provided you contact us within 7 days of receipt of goods. Returned Goods must be received within 14 days in their original packaging and including proof of purchase (goods receipt). If goods are returned damaged due to poor packaging, no refund will be given. Goods must be returned by courier post and include your personal name and address details. Refunds will be made using the same method of payment in which the goods were paid for, either a refund to your credit card or direct debit to your bank account. Refunds will be made within 7 days of receiving your returned faulty products. Please choose your goods carefully as no refunds will be made for any other reason than quality. Please note we do not offer refunds or exchanges on books or DVD’s.

Exchange Policy

Goods may be exchanged provided we are notified within 5 days of receipt of goods. Goods must be returned to us in their original saleable condition, in original packaging, and with all product tags intact. The cost of returning goods is covered by the customer and all returns must be sent by courier post. Exchange items must be returned within 14 days of receipt of goods. If goods are damaged in return due to poor packaging, no exchange will be made. Exchanged goods may be of the same or greater value but no refund will be made to cover items of a lesser value. On receiving your returned items, and being satisfied of their resalable condition, your replacement items will be couriered within 7 days.

HEALTH AND SAFETY OR EMERGENCY

1 Attraction visitors should be aware that in New Zealand any claims for personal injury are limited by a government scheme and Visitors should obtain their own insurance should they wish to do so. We strongly recommend travel insurance for all travellers.

2 No liability for loss, injury, damage, harm or suffering by any Visitor or any other person will be accepted. Visitors enter the International Antarctic Centre at their own risk and choose to do so under these conditions.

3 The International Antarctic Centre is a visitor attraction offering a variety of activities and exhibits. We advise that risk may be presented from a variety of exhibits, interactive displays, moving vehicles, walking surfaces and other non- specified elements of the Attraction. Care must be exercised by all attraction visitors.

4 All instructions given by the International Antarctic Centre guides should be followed by all attraction visitors at all times during any experience operated by the International Antarctic Centre. These experiences are for the safety of all attraction visitors and to ensure the best experience is had by all. Parents/guardians are responsible for the safety of the children which they travel with.

5 All attraction visitors accept that the International Antarctic Centre is not responsible for any injury incurred during an International Antarctic Centre experience as a result of carrying personal items on their person. All attraction visitors do so at their own risk.

6 In the event of a Civil Emergency, all guides will respond as necessary to ensure all attraction visitors safety. Please follow instructions.

 

HOLIDAY PROGRAMME

• I agree to my child/children taking part in the International Antarctic Centre Holiday programme during the school holidays. I acknowledge the need for my child/children to behave responsibly.
• I know that I am able to ask the organisers any questions regarding the programme.
• I understand that the International Antarctic Centre does not accept responsibility for loss or damage to personal property and that it is my responsibility to check my own insurance policy.
• I agree that if prescribed medication needs to be administered, then the International Antarctic Centre Staff will be assigned to do that. I will ensure that prescribed medication is clearly labelled, securely fastened and handed to the programme staff with instructions on its administration.
• I will inform the International Antarctic Centre Staff of any changes in the medical or other circum- stances between signing this form and the commencement of the holiday programme. This includes custodial arrangements concerning the child, or the names of people not permitted to collect your child.
• I agree to my child /children receiving any emergency medical, dental or surgical treatment as considered necessary by any medical authorities that may be involved. I acknowledge that the International Antarctic Centre Staff will endeavour to contact me as soon as any emergency exists.
• Any medical costs not covered by ACC or community services card will be paid by me.
• If my child is involved in a serious disciplinary problem, including actions that threaten the safety of others, s/he will be sent home at my expense.
• Cancellations—If for any reason your child can not attend the holiday programme we must be informed via phone. No refunds will be given unless a medical certificate is provided

PLEASE NOTE: PARTICIPATION IN THE IAC HOLIDAY PROGRAMME CONSTITUTES ACCEPTANCE OF AND AGREEMENT TO ALL IAC TERMS AND CONDITIONS.
